Paolo Soleri's Arcosanti - The 1st Eco-City

I wish this guy were better known outside of really smart elitest sustainable construction cliques. Arcosanti has been built by volunteer and workshop labor over 30 years. It's primary function is to serve as an Urban Laboratory. Under construction in the Arizona high desert Arcosanti intends to present an alternative to urban sprawl.
