we write to set our words in stone
to gift wings to our ideas
to make known what is unknown

we bring light to places of darkness
throw sparks against old newsprint
bear that fire which mankind has carried for so long

by naming things we force ourselves to remember them
by remembering we grow and change
and through growth and change we are reborn

we write to fill the slate before clearing it
we write because there are no more wildernesses to explore
we write to keep hold of some semblance of sanity
